I Married a Naga (Prime Mating Agency, #2)

Regine Abel

Enjoyment: 4.0Quality: 4.0Characters: 4.0Plot: 3.5

She got more than she bargained for. When Serena comes to Trangor to participate in the First Hunt, the last thing she expects is to find herself forced to marry an Ordosian… or be executed. She knows nothing of his people, nothing of him, except that he’s got fangs, scales, and a crazy long tail. Serena only has to play the part of being a wife for six months, and then she’ll be free to leave. But Szaro seems to have other plans. He’s big, intimidating, and definitely not human. Yet, how can she remain indifferent when he does everything to please her? From the moment he lays eyes on Serena, Szaro is fascinated by the delicate human female. Deceptively fragile in appearance, she’s a fearless and skilled hunter. The lingering taste of her scent on his tongue is intoxicating. Claiming her to save her life is no hardship for him. Overcoming their differences and convincing her to stay willingly is a challenge he relishes. But will that prove more than either of them can handle?

Oops, I keep forgetting to write a review for this and now it's been a couple weeks. As with the first book in the series, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed myself a lot. I'm a big fan of how Regine Abel writes and crafts her stories and characters, and I find her books compelling. I liked the concept of this one, and the dynamic between the two leads. I liked the way their intimacy developed too. I think the FMC in this book is a little too...I guess I would say immature? When it comes to how she discusses sex. She calls herself Naughty and is pretty reserved when it comes to talking about sex with her partner. There's nothing wrong with this at all, but I do find it a little distracting and off-putting when I'm reading a book with smut in it--unless the conceit is very specifically around a shy and inexperienced learning the pleasures of their own body, I'm not interested in someone who comes off as this green or this prudish about the sex they're about to have with a literal monster creature. This is obviously a smaller complaint that doesn't really impact my rating, but I wanted to share it regardless. I will definitely be reading more from Regine Abel, and I will continue to rec her stories to others! Especially if you're someone who appreciates a strong plot alongside their romance.

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. I saw someone describing the smut on TikTok and I was intrigued to pick it up. I adored this couple so much! Especially Szaro. The lengths he went to to make Serena happy were amazing. Even though he and Serena were different species they still had that underlying chemistry. I liked reading about them learning about each other's customs and blending them together. That’s if you can get over the physical appearance of Szaro lol.

It’s more than obvious that I was here only for the romance. I get that the hunt was a big plot of the story, but there were a lot of scenes that I skipped over just to get back to the romance. I just didn’t care about it.

To keep this short, I really enjoyed this. I’m going to have to pick up the rest of this series. Just don’t ask me about the hunt because I don’t know.
