Recs if you like Drama...

I’m aiming to read 100 queer graphic novels, so here’s my list of the ones I’ve already read and the ones I plan to read. There might not be 100 books on the list yet, as I’m still gathering them all together.

I have spent years curating a list of graphic novels for myself on goodreads and I thought this place would be great to share it and share my love for graphic novels. I’m not picky about the plot or topics of the graphic novels I read so the list is pretty much any graphic novel I have heard of regardless of topic. Many are middle grade or young adult as is the general trend of the format but recommendations for more (especially adult) would be greatly appreciated.

Also manga is not included.

Here are a bunch of graphic novels from different genres and ages! Mostly queer books also! Let me know if you need specific recs and leave your recommendations in the comments!

Books that are banned/challenged most often in the United States, based on data from the American Library Association. Resist censorship 🛑

All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. As well as a lot of textbooks

mlm stories !! this is very much not a recommendations. if there are other books you think i should add let me know !!

I thought it would be nice to have all of them in one long list.

Queer fiction and non-fiction commonly banned in the US.

Middle Grade Graphic Novels because everyone loves pictures with their words! Feel free to suggest more!

In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.

This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!

-The ultimate list for readers who also like to boggle their eyes at art- 👀

I only recently got into reading graphic novels/comics so I am very biased when it comes to picking what to read so BE WARNED these books contain very pretty art 💯😌 Also sorry I just don't really enjoy most superhero comics 😬🤷 the art is just not it. -all suggestions welcome- Definitely for the list.... Not for my own enjoyment...

the 100 most frequently challenged/banned books in the US during the 2010s (for series, only the first book is listed)

(also: list is in reverse order because I added them in order from first to last)

women with reasonable reactions to the situations they are presented with. the polar opposite of an “unhinged women” list

Books that have been banned, censored, and challenged at least once, and in at least one place in America.

Graphic Novel Recs for Elementary, Middle Grade and Teens

Use to be a middle school library para, so here’s some books I’ve read that are appropriate for middle school :)

(I am only gonna put the first one since there's a lot of series that are longer. I have removed those who are sequels)
