A Standalone FORBIDDEN LOVE SET IN THE EXPLOSIVE WORLD OF THE NBA... Think you know what it's like being a baller's girl? You don't. My fairy tale is upside down. A happily never after. I kissed the prince and he turned into a fraud. I was a fool, and his love - fool's gold. Now there's a new player in the game, August West. One of the NBA's brightest stars. Fine. Forbidden. He wants me. I want him. But my past, my fraudulent prince, just won't let me go. *Contains domestic/sexual abuse not involving the hero. Read reviews for further guidance.

OVERALL: This is a heavy and emotional book dealing with serious topics, check content warnings. I thoroughly enjoyed Ryan's writing style and turn of phrase, and I was frequently on the edge of my seat while listening. Was predictable and a bit too insta-love for me, hence losing a star.

I've been wanting to read a Kennedy Ryan book for a long time, and then Long Shot was recommended and immediately available through my library! So I listened to the audiobook--the male narrator had a really nice voice, I thought he did an awesome job. The female narrator's voice was more smooth/relaxed, and I had a hard time understanding her when the speed was turned up too much, so I had to slow the book down to hear her better.
