The Wide, Wide Sea (Chaos Walking, #2.5)

Patrick Ness

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

The Wide, Wide Sea is set in the past, at a time before the Spackle War, and we get a first look at the fishing village on the sea where some very important things happen at the end of Monsters of Men. Best read after The Ask and the Answer but before Monsters. (again, hints of things to come) - Patrick Ness

Publication Year: 2013

I’ve always loved this one of the 3 Chaos Walking short stories the most. It’s so simple but still a great story. But then again I think I could read anything in this world and absolutely love it.

Aside from the main story here, I love the little bit of extra world building we get. We are so few settlements in the main novels, and it’s nice to see something different (even if it is the end of the settlement). And the added layer to Mistress Coyle is very appreciated, even if she’s still a- …nevermind
