WOW okay this series has been a wild ride. criticisms aside, i did enjoy this and i fell in love with the characters which is honestly all i can ask for sometimes. i did in fact sob during this one, which i at one point wasn't sure would happen. without spoilers, i was starting to think that she was going to write this with no stakes... but she did... and it hurt me really badly.
note for piper: girl. get a better editor. or idk read your own stuff before you publish it. too many typos were found throughout the series!
i am still frustrated with the whole "this is a bisexual fantasy book" because in the end, i still feel like because no boundaries were really laid out.... it's just like "oh yeah and because i'm bi i am going to be with a man and a woman! look at me go!" i would be more excited about it if it was like, "okay so we're in these open relationships and we love each other but you also love this other person so this is how we're doing it." considering piper felt the need to spell out eeeeverything else that happened (*cough* how many pages did it take her to describe the fact that ash was dead? ), this one could have been spelled out too instead of interpreted/inferred by the reader. the way she wrote it just felt lazy and misrepresentative.
that being said, i do love amaris and gadriel! and i also (kinda) love amaris and nox! it still gives sister vibes but i think that's just the whole they grew up together in an orphanage thing and i wasn't able to move past it. because honestly the two of them are so sweet and their lifelong love for each other made my heart swell.
also, i will say i enjoyed how this was all wrapped up. i would actually have loved to see more of the kingdoms accepting their royals but the story must end somewhere. :)
anyway. as much as i enjoyed this, i'm ready to stop thinking about it. it has been a long two months. happy reading!
