Notable comics, graphic novels and mangas to get into the genre. This format of books is so underrated, so I wanted to create a diverse list of notable works across the history of 'comics'! I tried to highlight nonfiction and fiction works that are recognizable to the widest variety of people (mostly because of their adaptation), while also adding less widely known books. The goal of the list is to help find at least one 'comic' you want read, if you don't really read 'comics'! (inspired by Les 1001 BDs by Trécarré)

New Jersey rock band My Chemical Romance was formed in the wake of 9/11 and quickly became one of the most influential rock artists of the early 2000s. This list contains books written by or mentioning the group, as well as some titles that the members have referenced over the years.

Books which have songs/poems in them (including musical notes in the context of playing music)!

this includes books with short or long segments of songs/poems as long as it's not the main content of the book!

Suggestions are welcome, focused on fiction!

With love and respect and hugs and kisses to DC and Marvel, they are only a tiny part of the comic world and there are so many others. These are comics I recommend to beginners😊

Suggestions welcome‼️

Note: I’m not including mangas or graphic novels on this list - I’m focusing more on the multi-volume ‘traditional’ comic (with a couple small exceptions to the “multi” part) :33

for when you want to read a book just like tua -- ft. found family, sci-fi/fantasy, and a little time travel. list will be updating constantly, open to suggestions!

Books that have been adapted as Netflix Originals More to be added!

Books with pictures/illustrations (e.g comics, manga, graphic novels, picture books) that have been adapted to TV shows or movies!

Only including the first book in the series (if there is one)!

recs are welcome!

I find these to be great for getting out of reading slumps!
