Blessed by the gods and goddesses, edoli have lived alongside humans for thousands of years. While some hold such abilities as shape-shifting and controlling the elements, the rarest are the kings and queens who can bond through blood with keepers and amplify their power… and their own. Titos has been seen as useless and weak his entire life. He’s never been able to bond with another edoli and has nothing of value to offer his queen. Exiled and alone, he’s spent years living amongst humans and away from other edoli in the hope of avoiding execution. When a stranger saves him from certain death, Titos’s life will never be the same. Seth isn’t just some random stranger: he’s absolutely gorgeous and claims to have been drawn to Titos to serve him as his keeper. He assures Titos he is a king, and a powerful one at that. Never in his wildest dreams could Titos have imagined he was someone special. But a king isn’t all Titos is… After nearly killing Seth during their bonding, Titos is terrified of his abilities. Luckily, Seth isn’t the only keeper drawn to Titos’s call, and Mazki knows what to do to save Seth’s life. The connection between Titos, Seth, and Mazki is immediate and strong, and it isn’t long before Adom and Kail are drawn to Titos as well. But now that Titos has accepted his birthright, they all know that it won’t be long before the edoli council comes for him. Running from homicidal hunters and trying to stay hidden from the council, Titos knows he doesn’t have long to prepare. Sooner than he’d like, he’ll have to fight to defend what he and his keepers are building. And his very life. A King to Be Claimed contains a HFN ending, scenes with multiple partners, poly-style harem mild blood play, and a king who just wants to be loved.

This entire book was essentially just stumbling from one love interest to the next.
The magic system is not your typical shifter magic system, but there is no attempt to really explain how it all works until like 65% into the book. Before that you just have to go with the flow and accept that you don’t really know what anything means beyond guessing.
And when it is finally all shared, it is shared in the form of one giant info dump.
But back to the beginning, the plot starts interesting enough, and when it was two love interests I was intruiged, but then Titos kept stumbling into his keepers in random places, and all of them are immediately deeply devoted.
I get not wanting an enemies to lovers/hesitant lovers thing, but all of these men immediately dropped their entire lives to be with Titos.
Like Adom (no, not a typo, that’s his name) meets them, and within 10 minutes destroys his entire life to help Titos.
I get the whole fated mate argument, but almost none of these men have even a SECOND of hesitation, or ever think about anything that is not Titos. When one of them is like “wtf why would I ruin my life for you” everyone acts like he is unreasonable. It gets very repetitive.
Their devotion was heartwarming at first, but the characters had no real space to develop beyond 1. being Titos’ keepers, 2. being hot. Every time the newest member settled in, they moved on to add the next.
Then around the halfway mark Titos began regressing. He is written like a toddler, unable to do much for himself. Don’t get me wrong, I love a character being coddled and taken care of, but not when it feels like he is mentally regressing.
He was on his own for much of his life, yet seems to be utterly incapable of actually doing most things.
I haven’t read the second book and I’m not sure I will, but I feel like this plot has a lot of potential. If it was just rewritten a bit so we actually get to know these characters beyond being devoted to Titos and focused a bit more on plot, it could be great!
