It was great to be back in Gideon's Cove again. I enjoyed seeing Malone and Maggie as well as getting to know some of the others a bit more, like Dewey and Vin. For me, this book was nowhere near as good as the first book of the series, Catch of the Day. But it was better than the last book.
As much as I appreciate the realism Kristan Higgins has incorporated into these stories, sometimes it just depresses me a bit too much. What Parker's dad did to her in regards to her money just pissed me off. But the way James' dad and brother treated him downright broke my heart. Therefore, when Parker pushed James away I wanted to throttle her...even though I like her!
It was enjoyable to see the members of Parker's family mature over the course of the story. Not just her and her father, but also her mother and even Nicky...who was used to having her to himself for so long.
I'm sad to say good-bye to Gideon's Cove, but the last two books weren't as fun as the first so it's probably a good thing. I will definitely continue to seek out this author's work as I always enjoy her tales.
