Recs if you like Only When It's Us ...

romance books with reflective surface scenes where they watch themselves or each other 👀

PSA: the “dirty” in the title is not intended to have a negative connotation, but instead be a play on words; this is a safe space 🫂

theres a mirror joke here somewhere but i cant see it — apologies to vampires everywhere.

Disabled People don’t exist to Inspire Others.

If you want some book recommendations with disabled folks that just exist (without that inspirational suffering or being portrayed as a hero) - this is your list 🤭💗

splish, splash, splosh, this water is about to slosh 💦 shower, bath, pool, hot tub, ocean scenes where water is used as an aid for heat, buoyancy, assistance, 𝒻𝑒𝒶𝓇 (im looking at you ms carlton 🦈), and just general ✨vibes✨

in these steamy titles, the water should make you clean but you end up dirtier than when you entered, and we’re here for it 🛁

save water, shower together ♻️

This collection of romance books features characters with either physical or mental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and more.

books written by disabled authors

These books either have a main character or main side character who's important to the plot with deaf and/or hard of hearing rep! 🙉👂🔕 I haven't read all of these, but I have read a good chunk, so I'm always happy to talk with anyone about them & recs are always appreciated! 💜

One hates everyone and the other smile too much. Somehow, it works — and now feelings are involved.

mental and physical disabilities across all genres

I have not read all of these - I do have a life

Football (soccer, if you must) romances.

fiction books with disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and mental illness representation (usually written by Own Voices authors).

I’ve combined these categories because I’ve found they have impacted my life in similar ways and a lot of books include overlap 💗

books that made me feel seen as a chronically ill girlie who rarely feels seen in books

Still refining the name, obviously. Going for M/F romance that feels non-heternormative. I want genuine emotional connection. A FMC who isn't just crabby and emotionally unavailable or "not like other girls". A MMC who is a soul-reviving study in non-toxic masculinity but also a fully formed complex human, not someone who lives only to ‘worship’ the FMC. And a HEA that isn't doubling down on gender stereotypes. Also looking for characters who live in bodies with normal human softness, not six packs. Authenticity or bust! Recommendations welcome!

Books with disability rep or written by disabled authors. I love the growing appreciation for rep in books and these are the ones I've found so far. Some I've read some are on my tbr so if you have any recs to add, feel free, and if any are abelist or harmful in any way please let me know!

How not to love these

These are the books I read when I need to clear my head, especially after reading the news and wanting a happy distraction

all things sporty. please, leave your sugestion in the comments.

non fantasy version

Romance books with chronic illness & disability rep. Mixed subgenres (contemporary, omegaverse, and more…)

As a chronically ill reader I’m always looking for more romance recs with this kind of rep! Feel free to suggest your faves! 💜

For the Fae and Flame Society book club, often our spring book bingo includes a square for 'Deaf/Hard of Hearing Representation.' Here is a list of books as such!
