It is definitely a book of its time, however the writing is very well done and I enjoyed being in the world. The sequence of the story is similar to A Thousand and One Nights or Arabian Nights so be prepared to a non linear plot. Its stories are unique and reference older tales. After a while I did get tired of it , but I do want continue but treat it as a short story collection rather than a full fledged novel.
