0I'm not sure why this is being rated so low, this book was amazing. The prose was descriptive, the worldbuilding was on point, the characters were relatable. I enjoyed the twists and turns, and the plot was a good steady pace throughout. I didn't have any moments where I felt like it dragged or lagged. I also enjoyed that it was sapphic representation without feeling forced. Seeing the mirrored otherworld in the Fissure and the real world was a nice parallel. I honestly feel like this book is being review bombed lmao, don't let the negativity scare you. It is definitely a good read. I cannot wait for the sequel.
0DNF @ 11% This writing style is a mismatch with the tone and genre of this book. There is also a potential that the author was possessed by the spirit of the thesaurus at the time. Once I had experienced the perspective shift to the fairytale-esque place, I was immediately done after that chapter. Not actually an inherently bad story at this point, but I was not about to keep fighting with the writing style. I would have chosen not to rate this, but I had to include a rating to write the commentary.
