He married her best friend....wtf but I still loved it.
The reason to why he married her best friend, hurt me so much. I wanted to throw him off a bridge. However he redeemed himself. The whole trading girlfriend/wives was a bit too much for me.
3.5* hottest of Lucy Score’s books yet and I loved the small town setting of Mackinaw Island. But… the build up of getting Remi and Brick together took FOREVER. Yes, they had all this simmering chemistry, but it went about 40 pages too long.

Brick is everything i want and more
From the blurb I thought I was getting a forbidden romance but it’s really a frenemies to lovers with no real relationship conflict. The suspense aspect was good but could’ve been a bigger part of the overall plot - it really didn’t have any bones until the last 75% of the novel and just felt rushed.
Like overall not horrible, but just not good compared to any other LS books I’ve read. Up to 50% was great. After 50% was just not it.
Some books remind you why fires need kindling
I hope I didn’t shoot myself in the foot by making this my first Lucy Score book.
First of all… it was SO LONG for NO REASON. This story could have happened in half of the amount of pages.
Second… the bickering banter back and forth between the 2 MC’s was annoying. Really annoying. It wasn’t witty or funny for me. She was a mysterious/angsty damsel in distress and he was the “in your face” bearded hero. It got old. I especially hated the BOOK LONG argument of why he didn’t initially choose her and why he couldn’t be with her because he was this or he was that.
Lastly… if they weren’t pissed off/fighting they were hooking up. I love spice, it was great but the MULTIPLE CHAPTER LONG spice scenes got annoying. One spice scene in particular gave me the ick and changed my rating for the entire book almost.
I wanted to enjoy this more but it just really didn’t do it for me.
I'm SO MAD at Brick you can't even imagine. First time that I hate a MMC more than the FMC. He was a pussy with Remi, I don't even know how she could forgive him. He didn't even say he was sorry for breaking her heart, disappearing, marrying her bestfriend, pushing her away even more, make her feel worthless. No. Not once. No grovel time.
But SHE HAD to woo him? Make him feel worth loving? What the fuck. That was so fucking annoying, he kinda used her for a last time fuck, left her on the floor and she turns up two days later and ask him for forgiveness. Am I reading the book right?
The dirty talk was cringe, I liked it better when they weren't having sex.
The jealous sister and BF???? THE BF SAYING SORRY I WAS JEALOUS SO I MARRIED THE MAN YOU LOVED????? I wanted to punch something, reading this.
I really like Lucy Score books but this one is a big no. The ending was awful btw.
