In the first of this "Women Who Were Kings" series, we uncover the life of the first great woman in history. Hatshepsut--throne name Maatkare--was one of the greatest pharaohs of Ancient Eygpt, and remarkably--a woman. In a civilisation that didn't allow women to rule, how did Hatshepsut ascend to the throne? What did she achieve, and what were her policies as a female politician? What mark did she make on Egypt as its female king? What is her story? Properly researched, lavishly illustrated, and with footnotes and a bibliography, this graphic novel biography is suited for anyone with an interest in women rulers in Ancient Egypt. For Ages 10+.

A well researched, engaging introduction to the life and times of Egypt's greatest female Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Perfect for those who want to know more about her, but are unsure where to start, or intimidated by some of the lengthier or more scholarly intense books and articles on her. The art style was beautiful and quite detailed, it rejuvinated and recoloured a lot of different buildings and artefacts and really brought her world to life.
