every struggled to find actual lesbian/sapphic books when at the library or bookstore? so did I!

bc of said struggle, I started to curate a personal list of books that either has lesbian MCs and/or featured a primary sapphic romance.

i haven't read all of these, but I do try my diligence in confirming that they meet the above perimeters, since many books claim to be sapphic when they're not. this is an ever updating list, only fiction for now!

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

F/F, M/M, F/NBi, M/NBi, NBi/NBi, etc. Largely motivated by wanting to figure out which romance book quests I had a chance of getting the badges for. If I missed any, let me know. Another collection of books saved from TikTok. We don't gatekeep so I compiled them all here.

I love historical fiction, but it's too easy to get stuck in WWII Europe or the US Civil War. These are just a few of my favorites set in different areas of the globe. I usually use the Historical Novel Society 's definition of a historical novel as my guide (events 50 years old or did not happen in the author's lifetime). I also include ones that cross genres.

mostly to oppose the erasure of essential bisexual participation in lesbian literature and misinformation that bi+ women broadly prefer mlm to wlw. most of these authors have several sapphic books so make sure to check out the rest! many are also nonbinary, trans and/or on the aro/ace spectrums so please be mindful of their pronouns, labels (or lack thereof) and gender identities. suggestions welcomed!
