Recs if you like Slow River...

Fiction & nonfiction books that explore the complexities and traumas of mother-child relationships or in which such relationships play a central role. While many books on this list are what I’d classify as including “mommy issues” there are others that are more about the different perspectives and nuances of the mother-child (often specifically mother-daughter) relationship. Some books center the child, some the mother, some both.

To be nominated for this award a story must be 40,000 words or more and published in English in the US and it must be either a science fiction or fantasy story. as a traumatized individual who is slowly but surely healing, i tend to enjoy reads that portray characters going through and dealing with trauma. these are so far books that i've read that do a good job with it.
