My attempt at a french lit starter pack. I'm doing this with the goal of mixing up the genres each time, so that you can get a feel of the whole range of things french lit has to offer. Might move stuff around as I go, as I plan on making this a series, taking the side quests starter packs as inspiration.

This first one is a bit on the classics side.

This list comprises numerous French classics, from romantic epics, to realist critiques of society, to philosophical fiction, to scandalous stories, poetry, & more! I’ll be updating it sporadically.

Some staples of French literature that might be lesser known in the English-speaking world. List not finished, and all books are available in English. Centuries currently included: 12th to 20th. Genres: Novels, poems, plays, essays.

Books where obsession and power dynamics are central themes.

Pairings books to read together two at a time to create a better understanding of the book and a better analysis of the themes, concepts either through harmony or friction. *Will comment the core theme exploration point for each if anyone’s interested 💛
