When health farm owner Jane Wetherby is frightened by an astrologer's prediction of her imminent demise, she offers Police Constable Hamish Macbeth free room in exchange for his protection. Then the prediction proves accurate about the crime, and Macbeth must enliven his distinctively sleepy style of policing to solve the death of a snob.
