“Take the map of Africa, place Europe and America together and there's still room left. Why be a sunflower and turn toward the sun? I myself am the sun!” - Ousmane Sembène

1-3 books (mostly fiction, some nonfiction) from or about each of the 54 countries in the African continent. Listed by country from Algeria to Zimbabwe. (Unfortunately, no books for Niger included). The first book listed is a book by a Kenyan writer that encompasses why this list exists.

This list brings together fiction from around the world that documents historical events or periods of time. Titles in this list aren't necessarily "historical fiction" but do have an important historical element to them.

I find fiction is an easy media to help educate me about world history I never learned in school. These titles aim to bring to light historical events that may not be taught in schools!

As always, I'm open to any and all suggestions! 🤠

Here's every book so far from BOTM's monthly shortlist since February 2015 for anyone who wants to read them all like I do!

The second volume of my french lit starter pack saga. Damn there are so many books to pick from, it's hard tbh. Also a lot of books I'd love to share that haven't been translated into english 🥲

A collection of acclaimed classic and contemporary Francophone literature. I chose to classify as Francophone rather than French in order to include authors who wrote in French but were/are not of French nationality, especially authors from colonised countries. Non-exhaustive as I'm not an expert I am keeping this list to one book per author but suggestions very welcome! :)

Tous les livres lauréats du prix goncourt des lycéens. All laureates of the prix goncourt des lycéens, a french literary award voted for by high school students

For those that wish to discover French literature without sticking to the classics ! I compiled a list of French books from various genres (literature, sci-fi, fantasy, children's books, etc.) translated into English. I either already read them, was strongly advised to read them or wish to read them in the future.

French classics that are not 1500 pages long and written 200 years ago. They are accessible, modern and relevant ! In summary, this is a list of French books of the XX c. and XXI c. of less than 400 pages. (Except The Second Sex but it is too culturally important not to put it in a list like that...)

(This list is purely based on what I know and have read. Feel free to suggest new books to add.)

Just a list of books I've read from around the world, hoping others will find it useful.

Stories for processing all types of grief

Books from every country for reading around the world challenge (no particular order, I might have missed some, will be updating) Feel free to suggest!

100 livres avec une couverture bleue (couverture française)

A non-exhaustive list of books from African authors to explore the richness of this literature / in english or in french

Enjoy my newest lit series, ‘Reading the World’, in an attempt to diversify your own reading and broaden horizons, I have included a mix of genres. Sensitive topics often lie ahead as history, social and political issues are usually the centre of this writing. Enjoy!

literary fiction starting with the word small. makes me want to gobble up the book in one sitting.

Read the world! Goal is to read at least one book from each country (the author must be from the country).

Made for busy adults who wanted to read various World Classics but have little time and energy left after a long day 🫡

Working TBR-list for me (as a busy adult with unwarranted responsibilities) 🫠💤

Not letting capitalism hinders my desire to read 🙂‍↔️📖 Open for suggestions!
