The Third Wife

This book was...honestly, quite depressing. I've read Lisa's other book called Then She Was Gone and I loved it. The deepness of the characters, the gripping plot. This one was none of that. The more I read the book, the more hatred I developed for some of the characters. I felt like the plot was shallow and less significant, less capturing.

Good book, but perhaps could have been better.

When I picked this up, I was expecting a mind-blowing psychological thriller. Man, was I wrong. This is barely a mystery, if even that.

Adrian is addicted to love, and completely oblivious to everyone around him. His third wife, Maya, died suddenly, and he can't seem to move on. It does not help that no one is sure if it was an accident or a suicide. While grieving the loss of his wife, Adrian has excluded everyone around him, including his five children and his two ex-wives, who he claims to be very close to. He misses the life he had before, with Maya. But as time goes by, as secrets appear and mysteries needs to be solved, Adrian realises that maybe it's not the life he had with Maya he misses at all.

The only reason I kept reading this and putting up with the stupidness of it all, was because it is actually well written. It's an easy read, and I like that the story jumps a little back and forth, and that it's being told from different points of views. Though I do wish, and did think, that the voice of Maya would take more place.

It's not bad, and not very good.
