The Hull family has owned the Gallows Hill Winery for generations, living and working on the beautiful grounds where they grow their famous grapes. Until the night Mr. and Mrs. Hull settle down for the evening...and are dead by morning. When their daughter, Margot, inherits the family business, she wants nothing to do with it. The winery is valued for its unparalleled produce, but it's built on a field where hundreds of convicts were once hanged, and the locals whisper morbid rumors. They say the ground is cursed. It's been more than a decade since Margot last saw her childhood home. But now that she's alone in the sprawling, dilapidated building, she begins to believe the curse is more than real―and that she may be the next victim of the house that never rests...

There is something about Darcy that just makes her writing so bingeable! This is my fourth Darcy Coates and every time I am fully creeped out by the haunted places (and people!) that she puts into her books.
For GALLOWS HILL I found this to be one of the creepier ones I've read. The building of suspense while you're reading and the details of all of the creepy happenings is just enough to give you nightmares without making you terrified in your waking hours. Darcy definitely shines in her atmosphere and worldbuilding.
The only real sticking point for this book (that kept it from being a 5 star) was that while I felt our MC Margo was very well put together, the other characters just were... there. They were a bit unbelievable at points or just not fleshed out to my liking or to what I'm used to from Coates' works.
Overall - if you'll looking for a spooky haunted house story, this one's for you!
