Recs if you like Gaytheist: Coming Out of My Orthodox Childhood...

LGBT*+ graphic novels / comics / manga +

Fluff to smut, including 18+ etc aka not exclusive to anything specific other than being queer content (queer & queer-rep inclusive stories). I have read a good handful of the ones now at the bottom of the list. Includes intended middle-grade-ish-level youth content to adult audience content.

In progress / updated over time. Mostly serving as an all-in-one-spot list until Pagebound figures something out that works well for multi-genre/format exploration. :)

(recs highly welcome) Attempting a highly exhaustive list.

I’ll exvangelize away here 🧐
A pile of non-fiction and memoirs helpful on the personal journey of deconstruction with all feels as well as critical reflections about (evangelical) fundamentalism, high control religion, Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS), Purity Culture, etc Deconstruction can be such a lonely journey, so I hope you’ll feel comforted by similar experiences! You’re not alone!

Nonfiction to read when you’re deconstructing your faith or seeking to understand why others have left religion. For novels exploring the topic, check out my list “Fiction with Themes of Religious Trauma”

Comics about real life queer people
