Life is a series of events, one leading you to another. The hell I lived through with my drug-addicted parents led me to the Marine Corps. Committing my life to my country was easy. My brothers were my family--all I had and all I needed. I wasn’t looking for her, but I should have known life had other plans. It led me to her. From the moment we met, I knew he was different--I just didn’t realize he'd change my life. He was a guy on leave, an acquaintance. Until he was something more, something unforgettable. I never imagined he'd leave ten days later, taking a piece of me with him. Then again, maybe I did know. I just didn't care. He was worth it.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Kaylee Ryan has done it again! If you ever want to know why she’s one of my favorite romance authors, its because she writes awesome books like this. I was hooked from the very beginning.
I don’t read military romance too often so I didn’t really know what to expect when I started reading. This was so damn real! I really didn’t expect to feel emotional and so drawn into these characters. Once I started reading I kept saying “One more chapter” but I couldn’t put the book down.
This book is about young love and the troubles military couples and families face. I don’t have a military family so I can’t say that I relate, but my heart does go out to those who do.
I wouldn’t say that Slade and Austyn have insta love but they do have an instant connection. They take their time to get know one another even when Slate is away at training and nothing was rushed between them. These two were so sweet and they made this book amazing. Especially Slate! He never failed to show or tell Austyn how he felt about her.
“No matter what happens, I need you to tell me you know what you mean to me. You’ve given me life Austyn. I had nothing before you. I’m leaving you with my heart, my soul, and I’ll be back to get it.”
Like how can you not get emotional or root for someone who says that?! Well, I sure did. I kept hoping that everything would work out for them in the end. It had to because I was too invested for it not to work!
This was an extremely sweet romance that tugged on my heartstrings. This is definitely worth a read!
