I had the BEST time reading this book! It is short (300ish pages), binge-worthy, and SO GOOD!! One thing I don’t see often in thrillers is an HGTV/ home improvement reality show theme. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning for this theme alone. I became hooked after the first couple of chapters, and I dreaded having to put the book down to sleep; it was that good! Dawn and Wyatt are a married couple (yes, this is a domestic thriller) that are the stars of a home improvement reality show. They maintain a front for the cameras, but behind the scenes they are not only struggling in their marriage but also with fertility. Wyatt has the great idea to order shady fertility drugs from Germany in order to increase his sperm count. While the drugs do have many reviews claiming they work wonders, there are other reviews saying how horrible and detrimental the side effects are. Not necessarily physical side effects for the guy taking the pills, but mental side effects—aggression, homicidal ideology, suicidal ideology, dissociation, and others. Before long, Wyatt decides to get off the pills cold turkey instead of weaning himself off of them. During this time, Wyatt has been spacing out and writing about his plans for his and Dawn’s children. One night, Dawn comes across this document and flees with her kids in order to keep them safe. Wyatt doesn’t want his image to go down in flames, so he decides to make up a whole story about how Dawn has kidnapped their children and that she is mentally ill and struggling with postpartum depression. From there, Dawn struggles to manage being on the run while also dodging the police and people who recognize her because her face is plastered all across the news claiming she has taken her children and they are in grave danger. This book is dual POV, which I loved!! I don’t understand how this is Kenitz’s debut novel because his writing is wonderful! The story flowed very well and hooked me from the beginning. I hope Kenitz has other books in the works because I cannot wait to read them!!

I’m SO conflicted on this😭😭 I loved this book but the relationship between Nate and Alfie felt weird😖 Alfie is 18 from the beginning of his and Nate’s relationship and Nate is (???)… but the descriptions made me think Nate was wayyy older than Alfie. One of their first interactions is Nate saying that with Alfie being a prison guard so young, he is missing out on university life and other first experiences. Alfie confesses he isn’t a virgin a page later and Nate says that Alfie’s experience is “a little disappointing.”This scene gave me the ICK!! Also, even though Alfie was the prison guard, Nate was always the one in control. On page, Nate barely opened up to Alfie about his past or all the details about why he was in prison. So, the whole book was learning about Alfie as a character and Alfie’s relationship with Nate, but never about Nate. I know I’m probably the only person who felt this way, but the dynamic just gave me the wrong vibe. It felt kind of… predatory. Which SUCKS because I genuinely enjoyed reading this book. There were just some things I couldn’t get past☹️ Safety info: • no V or manwhores • no OW drama • very tiny OM- H1 kissed a guy before meeting H2 but didn’t go further because OM was a virgin. OM was in the story 2(?) times saying how he lost his virginity and now he wants to sleep with H1. OM and H1 are at a club for a mutual friend’s party and they agree to go home together if one of them doesn’t take an interest in anyone else. They do NOT go home together or kiss again. This club scene was after H1 and H2 started having feelings for each other but H1 still wasn’t interested in OM. • no info on H2’s past and H1 only did hookups • no past hookups show up (aside from the OM drama but they didn’t go past kissing in the past) • strict t/b
