This is a super fast read and can be read as a standalone. It doesn’t tie into the characters in the main body of this series at all, just the surrounding town.
While this story is about Shayna and Zane finding love, it’s also about Shayna finding herself and Zane finding redemption. Shayna grew up quite sheltered and has always been a people pleaser. As the pastor’s daughter, she never wanted to step out of line. Her father is a wonderful and loving man, which made Shayna even more determined to do right by him. Zane’s family, on the other hand, were terrible. Zane ended up in jail for years because of his family, but never forgot the kindness of the local pastor.
Now Zane is free and Shayna is all grown up and their connection is undeniable. This is insta-love to the extreme but it really worked for me. The way these two run into each other for the first time and how Shayna is compelled to get to know Zane kept me turning the pages. This was a novella done right.
