The Evil Queen in the Making… From the time she was a child, Azura was consumed with the need to consolidate power. Unlike those born as Vessels for Elemental spirits, Azura is forced to practice Dark Magic, her powers fueled by the remains of supernatural creatures. But the remains are finite, the Mystical woods not replenishing in the speed she requires, in order to fuel the dark spells she needs, she will need to marry into a Royal Bloodline. A Royal bloodline which drips with Elemental Power, which produces not just one Vessel, but two. The crown of Lithelle is hers for the taking, finally about to become the evil queen she was born to be. Her touch makes you shiver… Born as the Vessel of the Ice Elemental, Snow White has always been kept apart from those around her. When her father announces he intends to invite all the eligible ladies and princesses from the surrounding kingdoms in the hopes of finding a new wife, Snow’s tender heart races with excitement. A chance to finally make friends, to no longer be alone, to be *warm.* Dark meets Ice… Azura is immediately drawn to the dark beauty with the scent of frosted apples, temptation wrapped in a perfect bow. Snow dreams of Azura’s touch and kiss, though feigns to only want friendship at the risk of losing her. Yet, something is lurking in the forest just out of sight, about to tear them apart…forever.

I loved this. The split POV between Snow and Azura really gives you an insight to how they both view the other. And the attraction is immediate for both. Azura, being the more experienced of the two, knows instantly that she is attracted to Snow, even as her eyes are also snared by Belle for a short time. Snow, on the other hand, is innocent and does not fully understand her desires.
Watching the two slowly grow closer and closer until they can no longer hold themselves back is quite fun. And when they do finally give in, you just know there is no way either of them can truly let go of the other, though they try. It is nice seeing a world where no one cares what sex you are. You want who you want and you love who you love.
This book truly sets the tone for the series. Already we have met Belle, the Beast, and Eric. And considering Eric's placement, I'm excited to see him meet this world's version of Ariel. Right now, I'm questioning what his relationship with Belle is as there are a couple moments when they appear rather close. But I'm not torn up about it.
I cannot wait for the next book and I have a feeling this one will center on Belle and the Beast. I cannot wait to see that one unfold. Considering her reaction when she first sees the Beast in his human form and the Beast's personality, I can only guess what their adult scenes are going to be like.
I recommend this book greatly and I hope to see all kinds of relationships bloom from this series. I'm already loving the twist they are giving to the classic fairytales.
I really wanted to enjoy this book and I get some stories will have instalove, however, this wasn’t executed correctly. It felt too rushed. The story was fast paced and again, there’s times where the fast pace is warranted and understandable, but there was so much going on at once and it just leaves you wondering why it was all thrown together like that. It felt messy. There were parts I enjoyed, which is why I gave it two stars, but it just wasn’t a book I loved you know?
I will not finishing this. Nothing in the synopsis indicated this would be smut. I was not prepared for the objectifying sexualisation on almost the first page. I don't like that type of explicit content.
