REAL TALK EVERYONE - my list has gotten out of control and I am not even done!!! I am going to keep working on it (not today) AND I am going to make separate lists with the different stories because I found soooo many, even for the lesser known ones. When I do the separate ones, I will post comments here linking them.

Not suggesting you add this because I’m not sure this series retells the Grimm stories as much as it just incorporates some of the characters. But for anyone interested in a middle grade mystery series with strong female protagonists, there’s The Sisters Grimm series.

- Spinning Silver by Novik and Gilded/Cursed by Meyer are Rumplestilskin
- Wish of the Wicked/Spell of the Sinister is Cinderella

just a note though, i'm pretty sure fishbone cinderella is a retelling of the chinese tale of ye xian, which has been described as the chinese fairytale equivalent of cinderella, but it's not actually the fairytale of cinderella itself!

I don't know if this would fit the theme as a 'retelling' but theres the Unfortunate Fairytale series by Chanda Hahn, which follows the story of Wilhelmina (Mina) Grime, who is descended from the Grimm Brothers and is cursed to reenact different fairytales that they wrote in her real life. The first book is called UnEnchanted ❤️

I may have been living under a literary rock but what’s the tea on Hans and Gaiman?
Nothing wrong with Hans! Just made the list to be Grimms specifically (I personally confuse who wrote what). Gaiman - hoo boy, how much time do you have? The snapshot is that he was accused of sexual assault by several women, most of whom were significantly younger and some were also employed by him. He… hired the same crisis management firm that represented Prince Andrew and Danny Masterson, which is… a choice. He also is apparently putting out a new book and calling the accusations a “smear campaign” 🫠

My god did it take me some time to pick my jaw up off the floor! Ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole because of it too! Fortunately I don’t have any books by him to get rid of, but I hope the affected women get the justice they deserve somehow
