When you're reading and you need to put the book down, do you intentionally read until you've finished a chapter or section? Or do you just stop wherever?
I personally just stop wherever I am, and honestly I usually prefer to stop in the middle of a scene. My boyfriend says that's chaotic and he could never lol. He always has to "get to a good stopping point," which usually means finishing the chapter he's on. But when I read to the end of a chapter, it usually just makes me want to keep reading because a lot of chapters end with page turning hooks. And sometimes when I come back to it, I forget what's going on and have to go back and skim the end of the last chapter anyway to immerse myself back into the story. So it usually ends up being easier for me to get back into the story if I can pick up in the middle of a chapter and just throw myself back into a scene I already established a vision of in my head.
Is that so abnormal to do? What do you guys think?

do not listen to the audiobook version unless you are prepared to feel an immense amount of pain. Holy shit. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus with the amount I’ve sobbed. wow. what a book, made even more real by the fully casted audio. that was phenomenal.

I think it's rude of books to bring us so much joy, and so much pain, sorrow, and stress at the same time. that's all.

It took me a while to get into this book - actually, to understand what was going on and make sense of the plot. But once I did, it was a fun and very imaginative book. I like how music is part of the magic of this world and is a vital part of the city (I mean, songs are LITERAL PEOPLE here), how alive a vibrant the descriptions are and most of all I was very charmed by the characters, especially Brendy (my absolute favorite). Though this was not set on Mardi Gras exactly, I think the musical & magical atmosphere made up for it - this is a book that have a Carnival feel to it, regardless of being set up on the actual Carnival. It was not the most surprising or extraordinary book, but it matched my mood as my city's Carnival is coming up!
