The characters were well written messy 15/16 year olds in my opinion, selfish and confused and growing. I enjoyed that they werenāt perfect i wish there was more consequences/learning but how many mistakes did i make when i was that age? Many. Ive now read 3 dean atta novels in verse and i love the shapes made with poems, the rhythm and emotion. This wouldve all been a hell of a lot easier with communication and maybe there couldve been more acknowledgement of that at the end so the target audience also goes yes i should talk about my feelings with my friends, maybe its not always about me and that goes for all the characters. But i appreciated the representation of different colours of queerness and it felt like it came from an educated place š³ļøāšš³ļøāā§ļø

A phone tree fascinates me. I first encountered it in Lovelight Farms by B. K. Borison (if not that exact book, in one of the others of that series) and I'm super curious. I wonder how it is and feels to live in a small enough town with one. Do they still exist? Does it function like a FB group or Nextdoor or whatever else people use these days? Is it more annoying or do you feel valued like you're part of the pack each time you get a call? I'd be scared that I would be forgotten.
