  • What do you call this genre/style?

Been reading a lot of British fiction books by and (largely) about women where

    1. the POV is 1st person limited (but changes POV characters throughout)
    2. [CW: upsetting topics] Doesn't shy away from scandals, including vivid sexual assault scenes or extreme parentification of young POV children
    3. It often follows characters over the course of years, maybe decades. There are some "close up" scenes where they focus on the dialouge of a moment, but there's relatively little detailed description. like they're recapping historic events, almost. like "Martha wasn't sure about that, but Annie agreed. Anyway, they were running out of luck, and they did by the end of that week, when Mr. Nel did ... "
    4. Takes place in historical times, often right after WWII, but perhaps in the 1970s ish

Examples: The Miller's Daughter by Elizabeth Gills, Orphan Sisters by Lola Jaye, Lovely Lane Series by Nadine Dorries

  • Books that add a bit of sunshine ā˜€ļø

Does anyone have any book recs to read for when someone is struggling with their mental health? Specifically books that you can relate to and give you a feeling of hope, comfort and inspiration rather than self help instructional books? What kind of books do you pick up when you are struggling etc?

  • Funding?

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if there is a place where I can read more about how Pagebound is funded? How do they make money/how do the owners make a salary/what is their long term investment plan? Is this public information? If someone could direct me to anywhere where the owners have discussed this, I’ll high five you šŸ™ Thanks!

  • Book recs for a bingo challenge

    Hello friends!

I am completing a bingo card challenge for a local bookstore, and there are two prompts left that I would love some recommendations for 🄰 They are:

Historical romance NOT set in the UK or US

Disabled Main Character, Written by a Disabled Author (my preference here would be fantasy or mystery but I’m open to anything you think is really good!**

    Thanks so much!

  • A-Z reading challenge recs needed

Hi I decided do to the A-Z reading challenge this year! But I'm struggling to find good books for certain letters. I'm still unsure or looking for books starting with letters G, J, K, M, N, P, U, V, W, X and Z I know it's a lot For some of these I have possible reads like The Golden compass, Katabis, Midnight library, Nightingale, Poppy war, Wings of starlight... But im not 100% set on them. The biggest challenge seems to be finding good J, U, V, X and Z books. I've been thinking of making X the wildcard but then I'd still need to find the rest.

Any good book recs? I mostly read fantasy & romantasy and historical fiction set in prehistoric times or during WW2 Thanks in advance!!

    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

By far the BEST resource I’ve read my entire pregnancy, and will be recommending it to every pregnant friend from here on out! It’s comprehensive without feeling like information overload and my only wish is that I’d come across it earlier in my pregnancy (however it was still packed with relevant information for third trimester on, as well, so it was still VERY useful even reading it further along)

  • Thirty, flirty, and thriving

Alright so I turn 30 on the 28th of this month 🫢 and I’m curious if anyone has recs in fantasy or dystopians where the woman is like at least over 25, but in her 30s would be great. Or older! Heck I’d love to read a fantasy series with a 40 year old woman are you kidding?

I have read one, Swordheart, I really liked that she was much older than the typical FMC is. And current I’m reading the plated prisoner series and I know Auren is 25 which is nice. And I’d like to know if there’s more. It doesn’t bother me necessarily that most FMC’s I read in these genres are younger (18-22) because I still see myself as younger than I am šŸ’…šŸ¼ or I just kind of picture/envision my younger self or even sometimes my current aged self anyway.

    Thanks!

  • World Of Books. Com

So... If you are like me and devour books I HIGHLY suggest you buy from worldofbooks.com or WOB. They have basically any book. They supply books everywhere. Most books for good or very good condition will be £3. Literally amazing. They also stock new books the only difference is you can get free postage and it's environmentally friendly made of recycled plastic. Also there are loads of offers so you can get free books. It's amazing!!!
