The Prisoner of Cell 25
Overall Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (5/5) or 9.42/10 overall
Characters - 9
The characters in this book were amazing! I got SUPER invested in the story because Dr. Hatch is pure evil and I really wanted to see the Electroclan defeat him. I think some of the side characters could have been a bit more developed, but hopefully we'll get to learn more about them in future books and that will flesh them out a bit. :)
Atmosphere - 10
I thought the atmosphere in this book was incredible. There was enough description to help picture the scene, but not too much so as to bog down the action which is the sweet spot in my opinion.
Writing - 9
The writing in this book was spectacular. I really enjoyed the flow and the short chapters helped me to become more engaged. There were a very minimal amount of times where I thought the writing was clunky or confusing; most of the book was very easy to read but not so simple to the point of boredom.
Plot - 9
The plot isn't anything super complicated, but is still unique and kept everything together well. I'm interested to see where book 2 will pick up and how some of the conflicts will continue to play out.
Intrigue - 10
I was super intrigued by this book. It's been on my tbr for a long time and I totally should have read it earlier. I wanted to know what was going to happen, but nothing ever happened that I could have 100% predicted.
Logic - 9
There's a reasonable amount of logic to the book. There's a few things that I hope future books address, but overall the logic is pretty solid. I also don't know much about electricity though, so I can't say if the powers are "scientifically accurate" or anything, but also it's sci-fi/fantasy so I'd still cut the logic some slack there if it doesn't.
Enjoyment - 10
I REALLY enjoyed this book. It's one of my favorite books in a while and it's immediately going on my recommendations list. Some of the elements remind me of Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson, which is also cool. :D
