Lit fic books to read for the aesthetic

This list is for stories about stories, including the more obvious "books-about-books", but also books about who gets to tell stories, what versions of stories become "truth", and other story-based themes. *While not intended to be strictly fantasy, this list does lean heavily into this genre due to my personal reading tastes. **Suggestions welcome!

Every single Aardvark Book Club book pick since its inception. Updated monthly!

Hii, everyone ♡ I am a very big fan of the booktuber @caricanread so I thought I would make a list of all the books she has read this year! ✰

Social commentary under patriarchy

Fiction about writers allegedly stealing manuscripts, ideas, and author identities or perpetrating some kind of con on the public

Book with main characters that are disabled. Both physical and mental included. Eg chronic/terminal illness, physical disabilities, mental illness, neurodivergance, addiction, injury and injury recovery, symptoms causing health issues etc. Doesn't have to be a diagnosed condition. Not necessarily by authors with shared experiences. Books any be any genre. Added only 1st book of series unless there are different characters.

Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments! No "magic cure" books.

I'm a huge fan of Maisie's music and her newest album Florescence has been playing nonstop since it came out. She's a passionate reader, so over the years many books recommendations have accumulated and I thought it would be cute to make a list out of them. Info taken from her Goodreads and Instagram accounts, newsletter, podcast, and various interviews she did. I will update this list as new recs come up, but if I miss something feel free to suggest it in the comments.

books that center a woman main character who makes extremely questionable (unhinged) decisions, whether by choice or necessity. (often seen as ~ hysterical ~) heroes & villains welcome. [ongoing list]

books that uses neon green💚 on their cover! usually for the title and sometimes as a background color!

sadly, the default pagebound editions might not be the correct ones so you’ll have to look through the available editions. pagebound please let us choose</3

open to recs!

2026 is for unhinged girls and their weird agendas

All the 2026 Aardvark book club picks

All a girl needs is a good book written by a woman about a woman who's losing her mind. Here's a collection of "weird girls" books including female rage and bad decisions. I also want to include lighter books and satires about the search for meaning or happiness as a woman.

there are wayyyy too many to keep track of so i’ll leave them here until they go into production/release

Books that include people experiencing homelessness in a neutral to good non-nuisance way often siding with those who have experienced it.
