Reading suggestions for the Trans Rights Readathon! (Any year of course). Books with trans characters of any label (or any non-cis gender identity) by trans/non-cis authors. I have not read all the books in this list. Feel free to name your fave books by trans authors in the comments!

Works in the speculative, fantasy, science fiction, and horror genres by authors who are not cisgender! Two spirit, nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, and other gender diverse authors count!

adult genre romance stories where at least one main character is trans and/or non-binary! i haven’t necessarily read or recommend all the books included here; please lmk if anything is incorrect. Also this list is white and transmasc leaning so def please leave any recs in the comments! i’ve mainly excluded erotica, as my goal for this list is genre romance, but most books listed do contain sexual scenes (varying levels of explicitness)

if a book is part of a series, I'm only listing the first book just so the list doesn't get overrun.

Sci-fi books that I feel are hopeful and have a cozy, often slice-of-life vibe. Some of these could also fall under the solar punk category.

Note: I have not read all of these (and some I’ve dnfed/disliked) but I wanted to include all the cozy sci fi that I know of.

Books that have nonbinary main characters.

Fiction books (ya, adult, graphic novels, manga, and more) that center queer joy and friendship. There can be sadness mixed in as that is life, but the relationships themselves are loving and joyful.

Books that feature queer found or chosen families. For when you need that ragtag chaotic queer family energy

These are sci-fi books that have different species. Sometimes from their perspective, sometimes just part of the story, in rare cases as the villain.

Please comment for suggestions and I will add them, but consider that I'm not going for the classic 'Alien' vibe of human destruction, but for something a bit more nuanced in non-human representation 😊 (Alien has its place and I'm a big fan of the franchise)

Happy Pansexual Visibility Day (May 24th). It's hard to find books with explicit pansexual representation, but we've done our best to put together a list of a few, though note that some of these it might be subtext and/or open to interpretation if the character is pan or bi or other sexualities.
