WWDPR? (What Would Dolly Parton Read?)
In honor of our queen Dolly Parton's tragic passing, I present to you, a list that includes books she has shared she loved, books that give me Dolly vibes, books she herself has written and books about her... basically just a big ol' Dolly appreciation list. Recommendations welcome!! In the meantime, pour one out for an icon, you'll catch me watching Steel Magnolias and sobbing. Rest in power, Dolly.

Down With the (Female) Sickness
Books that highlight the ways gender roles have harmed women, often through assigning an inherent wickedness to the entire gender and using suffering or punishment to “liberate” women from our wickedness. Starting with The Yellow Wallpaper, in which Victorian standards for women expected purity and perfection. Imperfection, whether it be postpartum depression or strong opinions, was labeled as female hysteria and treated in a way that only further harmed women. Exploring empowerment & autonomy

Stunning Book Covers
Appreciation list for book covers! PS: I have had this collection for a long time on another platform, and decided to share it here. However, if this content is not permitted, I will gladly remove it. :D

Millennial Feminist Cozy
These books feel like premium peak millennial Obama-era hope in the current Cheetoh-ruled world. They are what my best hopes of current reality are, with maybe a bit of magic thrown in. Reading and re-reading them is keeping me functioning right now. For the most part 😜
Bad things happen but these marginalized characters take it on and win in a way that satisfies me. I will save the books where bad things happen to bad people to another list!
