Recs if you like Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast...

JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

Bring on those Gen Y memories! A list of books likely to give people born between 1981 and 1996 a lot of feelings.

This list is for those of us who grew up eagerly awaiting the Scholastic Book Fair, watching Reading Rainbow (or Wishbone!), and dreaming of a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

Note: these are not books published in 1981-1996, but books that had a hold on the millennial generation.

Also check out the Dear America series, American Girl series & Royal Diaries series.

Fairy tale Retelling ranging from YA to Adult (will be updating as I come across them)

Inspiring young readers to question gender roles since the 1990’s

I’m open to recommendations as I’m curious to find more in this particular genre. And maybe to also look beyond the 90’s, but I do think I have a particular interest in how the time period makes these novels unique.

I love a good retelling (from fairy tales to classic novels). If you are looking for a great retelling, this list is for you!

I love a good retelling. First in series or standalones. Suggestions welcome.

List with dreamy and magical fantasy books with a bit of romance

Name generators my beloveds. Just a list made by someone whose D&D characters were mostly christened with the help of RNG. The one and only criterion: Title is a first/given name (or nickname too)! Some are verified by the book actually containing a character with that name.

The house is a character (in a cozy way). Send recs!

women with reasonable reactions to the situations they are presented with. the polar opposite of an “unhinged women” list

Retellings of my childhood favourite fairytale

I swear this is all I read for years! I can't be the only one+

books that just feel right to read in the springtime. fresh starts, transformation, thawing, etc.

For books that are the same amount of whimsy, dark and alluring, but very sincere about it. Not every fairlytale retelling can summon this feeling, and not every book with this feeling is a retelling. I'm taking the "dark" part seriously so please PLEASE check trigger warnings for some of these books. I'm also accepting recs cause this is my favorite flavour of book!!!!!!

Gimme more magic, myth, romance, and once upon a time...For series, only the first book is listed
