And the second queen of fate is now on her throne. And once again, the synopsis gives a hint to something that happens at the end of the book. This is clearly a running theme and I will need to pay close attention to the blurbs going forward.

After much struggle, Malin and Kase can now be together without trouble. At least until everything comes to a head and it is revealed why the world needs these four queens of fate so bad. There is a mysterious "he" who has been mentioned a few times and talk of a darkness, one that wanted Niall on the throne instead of Malin. Astrid of the South seems familiar with this mystery man and feels certain he will win.

Whoever this man or being is, he doesn't want the four queens of fate to be on their thrones. It has failed twice so far but there are still two more queens to go.

Next, we head to the South where the third queen will be reign. And Ari is going to be smack dab in the middle of it.

Choice, devotion, honor, and cunning. The four gifts each queen will represent. Elise was choice. Everything about her story ended with choosing their fates. Malin was devotion. She was completely devoted to those around her, especially Kase. If I am right about what is coming, the next gift will be honor. It would make sense with who we will be following in the next trilogy and her role in the war in the East. But I think that will only happen if both she and Ari accept their fates.

At the time of writing this, only the first book from the Southern Kingdom is released. I will wait to read it until after the other two have been released as well and I will do the same when the Western Kingdom is released. If I am right, we now know three of the four queens of fate. I am speculating on the fourth but won't know for sure until the end of the Southern struggle. Following the pattern, one or both of the major players in the West will make an appearance in the South. I will be interested to see if I am right in my guess or if it will be people we have yet to meet, as we have only met two people from West who have played some kind of role. One more than the other but this series does not seem to do anything without meaning. And I know this is not the last we will see of the storyteller. Or her brother.

I cannot wait until the Southern Kingdom's story is done so I can jump in and watch Ari futilely fight his fate. Romance in this world moves fast and is rarely fought for long. Poor Ari doesn't stand a chance.
