Horror in < 200 pages
Horror books with a page count of 200 pages or less.
Before we started defining novellas by word count, they were defined as being any book less than 200 pages. Source: my Analysis of Short Stories & Literature professor in community college. I loved that class. But he loved James Joyce. So, ymmv, I guess.

๐ Summerween ๐ฑ
Spooky summer fun for all ages, from cute picture books with spooky elements, to creepy middle grade graphic novels, to teen + YA thrills, to adult-level gore and a sprinkling of erotic horror/dark romance. Books on this list have a heavy summer theme, either highlighting the season or taking place in settings like summer camps, fairgrounds, beaches, or water parks, and have some sort of creepy or scary element to them.

this is summerween
all things summer and horror from slashers to summer camp and your favorite local faire.

Queer Summerween ๐๐ช
This list has a mix of all types of horror novels by LGBTQIA+ authors.

Stephen Graham Jonesโs Favorite Slasher Books
Shamelessly swiped from the NYT article of the same name.

Tents, treats, and a little chaos
I love whimsy and books around a circus (or circus adjacent vibes like whimsical carnivals, festivals, etc)

50 States, 50 Books by Women
List from Sadie Hartmann's Feral and Hysterical: Mother Horrorโs Ultimate Reading Guide to Dark and Disturbing Fiction by Women

Nostalgia is Grief
Goes with my bookstagram post today: Analog is not an aesthetic or vibes or a trope. Nostalgia is grief. A coping mechanism. I find myself rewatching old favorites, crying when I listen to old music, searching for books set in the 80s and 90s and reaching for any media that feels GenX coded. Iโm a 1976 Gemini turning 50 this year so this tracks. โ๏ธ the 80s & 90s are calling and Iโm going back.

Just chillin', killin'
Slasher - a subgenre of horror involving a killer or a group of killers stalking and murdering a group of people, often by use of bladed or sharp tools.
This is a big list of (almost) all slasher books (only first books in a series). As long as there is a killer(s), victims and blood, it counts!

Humid Horror: Spooky Tales from the Sunshine State
Horror books that either primarily or exclusively take place in Florida. Tried to stick to horror and not venture out into thriller territory!

The Florida Lit Variety
Fiction books of varying genres set in the USA's Sunshine State. Some books highlight the beauty of Florida, while others highlight the dicey history of the state. And some do neither; they're just here for a good time! There's so much more to our state than beaches, spring break, and amusement parks. Not all books written by Florida locals.
