...all signs point North for not-so-Saint-Nick A part of the Wild West Boys series. In a rare moment of recklessness, mild-mannered accountant Holly North lets her best friend guilt her into filling in as Mistress Christmas at Sugar Plums, a Christmas-themed strip club. Fearing she’ll be recognized—or worse, considered a fraud—she dons a velvet mask along with the Mrs. Claus-meets-dominatrix costume. She’s shocked at how deliciously wicked anonymity feels. Detective Nick West is determined to discover how his friend was supposedly robbed after a lap dance at Sugar Plums. His visions of revenge vanish faster than a flying sleigh upon his first peek at Mistress Christmas—a leggy brunette with smoky eyes and a lush mouth begging for hours beneath the mistletoe. Their attraction flares hotter than a fireplace on a cold winter evening, and Nick is only too happy to oblige when Holly blurts out her one Christmas wish… For a naughty secret Santa to sweep her away for a night of anonymous sexual pleasure.

As I’m tearing through the Rough Riders series, I figured it would be a good idea to add these novellas to the mix. They deal with some of the cousins of the McKay’s. This one is Nick West’s story. Now, my regulars know I have a bit of an obsession about reading things in order…even if they’re not part of the same series. Once I like an author I will often go back to their beginning and try to read their books by publication date. This doesn’t always work out for me, but it’s one of my quirks. So when I realized this series was out there I had to jump back a bit. This one was published between Rough, Raw, and Ready and Branded as Trouble of the Rough Riders series. And since there are crossover characters I will stick to reading by publication date here.
This is a short and ultra-steamy book. There is a whole lot of sex packed into these few pages. But, surprising to me, also a whole lot of sweetness. Why should I be surprised that a cousin of the McKay’s is really a softy at his core? And Holly is impossible to dislike. She’s so awkward and innocent, yet sexy as all get out.
You absolutely do not need to read the Rough Rider books to read this one. And you don’t have to read this one to enjoy the Rough Rider books…but it’s an added bonus story that you’ll definitely enjoy if you are a fan.
