Look, they just can’t help it. Sometimes they stumble into it. Sometimes it’s an addiction. Sometimes it heals something inside them. A woman is a docile thing, tame and obedient. Man’s best friend becomes woman’s unlikely mirror. Yet they both bear fangs, and will bite when threatened.

These books explore the tension between domesticity expected of women, and the ways that the men in their lives abuse, demean, and belittle their labor while benefiting from it. And how the rage those women feel boils over until the dog remembers—it was once a wolf.

Women pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable in pursuit of their urges and desires. They’re behaving badly, unconventionally, and selfishly. Some are violent, some are horny, some are traumatized, some are angry—but all of them are finally acting for themselves.

An expansive list born out of combination of feminine rage, weird girl lit, “good for her”, women vs the void, monstrous feminine, and everything in between. Books written by women, trans, and nonbinary authors only.

Horror books that either primarily or exclusively take place in Louisiana. Tried to stick to horror and not venture out into thriller territory!
