Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Micah and Ariel are angels and soul mates created to guard the throne room of the Almighty in Heaven. They are incomplete without each other and cannot bear to be apart. But Heaven is under attack and the forces of Hell have a plan to separate them -- by putting them together. Using an infernal sword called the Reever, Lucifer, Prince of Demons, strips the souls of the doomed angels and sends them down to Earth to live as humans. But the moment they come together again in love and passion, they will be free of their Earthly forms and regain their celestial bodies. Knowing this, Lucifer plots to have them sent into the bodies of siblings -- Owen and Leah DeMarko. Growing up with no knowledge of their origins, Owen and Leah are close until Leah suddenly blossoms into womanhood. Then, fearing his unnatural attraction to her, Owen cuts his beloved little sister abruptly out of his life. So begins an epic struggle between right and wrong, desire and illicit love. For Owen and Leah know nothing of their former lives as angels or the war that rages between Heaven and Hell. They only know they must not give in to what they feel for each other for their love is forever...Forbidden. Publisher's Note: Although Owen and Leah are not related by blood, because of the perceived illicitness of their desire for each other, some readers, particularly those with a history of sexual abuse or incest, may find this story disturbing.

OOk. This is one of those incest ones between siblings. There is no warning because they're not really siblings, just led to believe they are. Regardless of if they share blood or not, they still go through all that 'I want to hump my sibling, that's so wrong' stuff. So if you like that sort of thing, this is the book for you, Evangeline Anderson really plays up the insecurity, guilt and shame with these two.

I found that parts of the story dragged on as the author tried to play up the 'will-they-won't-they' suspense. But let's be honest, we all know they're gonna so let's get on with it.

There was also an 'attack' on one of the character that helped move the plot along. I thought the attack was a little out of place and rushed and poor fitting. Maybe if this becomes a series, she will be able to add more weight to this attack with future developments by the evil people.

This book was a bit nostalgic for me. Not in the way it relates to incest (yilck. not on your life) but because of the way the characters got it on in a sort of naive, tentative way that reminded me of my high school years. They were only fooling themselves 'oh we'll just kiss' 'oh I won't fully penetrate' 'oh I won't come in you' Mmm. No you won't, you'll do the full thing, eventually. For some reason that reminds me of teenage naiveté. When you want to do something that the public service announcements and after school specials are telling you not to do. So, as a compromise you need to talk everything through and make these barriers that were made to be transcended, but you honestly believe when you say them that you'll hold to them ... but you don't. Or at least that was my teenage experience. "Only touching over the clothes, that's as far as I will go" Yeah right, Elena, for how long? Hmmm? I say your top is off within the month!

Moving right along... there is an interesting ending. It looks like we'll see these two again, and as much as I wasn't diggin' their circumstance here, I'll read the next one. I think this is the start of a very good idea for a series.
