I don't remember how I ended up in the icy water but I do know this: it wasn't an accident. They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but sometimes it's hard to tell them apart. My friends love me. I know they do. But that doesn't mean they didn't try to kill me. 13 Minutes is a gripping murder mystery about people, fears, manipulation and the power of the truth. A stunning read, it questions our relationships - and what we really know about the people closest to us...

Really solid, griping book that deffo worth a read. Whilst the characters were a tad annoying at times, that's the price you pay with high school teenage drama sctick, and it largely worked, the sense of paranoia high school creates with the paranoia of a murder mystery/thriller. Pinborough is a very talented writer and I may look into more of her books based on this. I do hope, however, that her other novels are slightly more unique than this one. The whole "chess as a metaphor for the conflict/characters" is so over done and i spotted it a mile away, it not really adding much to story. My minor nick picks aside, I really really enjoyed this, and is a great read.
