Professor System has issued a mission: to rescue the gentle, kind and tragic protagonist shou of the novel “The Exceptional Furnace”. Song ‘Scholar-Tyrant’ Qingshi: “Don’t worry, Professor! I can definitely ensure the patient’s recovery!” In the Immortal Realm: Song Qingshi praised from the bottom of his heart: “My patient is the kindest and most beautiful little angel in the world.” Yue Wuhuan quietly washed the blood from his hands and smiled softly: “En.” Song Qingshi swore from the bottom of his heart: “As a doctor, I will never covet nor take advantage of my beautiful patient!” Yue Wuhuan took full and complete advantage of the doctor and smiled softly: “En.” Song Qingshi affirmed from the bottom of his heart: “Under my loving care, the patient will never be blackened!” Yue Wuhuan secretly hid his monstrously evil thoughts and smiled softly: “En.” At that inextinguishable summit, upon thousand and thousands of soul lamps, he sat on the god’s throne of white bone, guarding that piece of stone. “You are the only one in this world who treats me tenderly.” “And so, you are the only one I treat tenderly.” Scholar-tyrant Song was absolutely delighted: “Professor! Can I get full marks?” Professor System exploded: “You fool! You saved the wrong person!”

It took me more than a year and three attempts to finish this book.
First of all: because it's bloody long.
Secondly; the first half is depressing, boring and repetitive.
And third: the characters are... odd. There is an author's note explaining why Wuhuan is the way he is. I believe her when she says that she tried to be realistic and respectful of his trauma: I don't think she was succesful tho. He was very consistent in the begginimg but then his development became erratic and very plot-driven. (In which I mean he would do and behave in whatever way the plot needed). Qingshi was... even more erratic. He was dumb and then he was not. He would be compasionate and then ridiculously ruthless and then he would be dumb again and then explain the whole plot to us as if he was an insider all along just acting dumb to trick the reader.
The filler chapters about other characters like Bai Zihao could've been extras. His status update was very disruptive to the pacing of the grand finale.
The grand finale was... underwhelming but expected. The author didn't take the time to build on the cultivation part of the novel only relying in the ML trauma to advance the plot so it was expected that the ending would end up being a deus ex machina. Still, she made sense of the transmigration and system so good points for that.
This was a 3. But then the translator said: "and they lived happily ever after" and just for that happy ending I can give 4.
Will not reread.
