Gwen’s never wanted to be a leader, but when no one else stepped up, she took on the role. As the mayor of post-apocalyptic Shreveport, she’s made decisions to protect her people…and most of them have backfired disastrously. When she discovers that the dangerous gold dragon lurking outside of the fort has decided she’s his mate, heartsick Gwen thinks that the best thing she can do is confront him and take him far away from the city. She does this to save her people - her sister, her friends, her fort. She doesn’t expect to understand the dragon. She certainly doesn’t expect to fall in love.

Was very annoyed that Gwen held out for as long as she did, despite having the knowledge about how to communicate and how the Draconi thought...
This one was meh. It was so meh it made me lose interest in this series again. Despite Gwen having a lot of relevant knowledge, she purposely does not mate with Vaan until maybe 75% of the way progress. So much inability to communicate was infuriating, and also sad, since she was preventing the guy from being so nuts
- also her being in love with him pre sex= makes no sense...
I am intrigued by the "we will have to band together against the big bad"
