My Darling Arrow (St. Mary’s Rebels, #1)

Darling Arrow, I shouldn’t be writing this. It’s not as if I’m ever going to send you this letter and there are a million reasons why. First of all, I was sent to St. Mary’s School for Troubled Teenagers – an all-girls reform school – as a punishment for a petty, totally inconsequential crime. Not to ogle the principal’s hot son around the campus. Second of all, you’re a giant jerk. You’re arrogant and moody and so cold. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t even like you. But strangely your coldness sets me on fire. The way your athletic body moves on the soccer field and the way your powerful thighs sprawl across that bike of yours, make me go inappropriately breathless. But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is that you, Arrow Carlisle, are not only the principal’s hot son. You also happen to be the love of my sister’s life. And I really shouldn’t be thinking about my sister’s boyfriend or rather fiancé (I overheard a conversation about the ring that I shouldn’t have.) Now if I can only stop writing you these meaningless letters that I’ll never send and you’ll never read… Never yours, Salem NOTE: This book is a standalone and DOES NOT contain cheating.

Okay, I’m not saying this beats my love for Medicine Man but oh my god, I think I love them both the same. My Darling Arrow has taken the #1 spot on my favorite books list alongside Medicine Man. I started reading this book yesterday while working and I could not put it down after that. I found so much of myself with Salem, so many similarities. When she hurt, I hurt as well. I don’t think I connected with a character as much as I did her, but I’m so happy Kent wrote this book. The mixture of innocence and mischief that Salem represented. I loved seeing her evolve and become the Salem I wanted her to be from the beginning. A Salem who knew what real happiness felt like, but most importantly, what it felt like to be loved back. She’s the character you root for and just can’t wait to get her happy ending.

Simon from Medicine Man had taken the spot of my favorite male character from Kent’s books but Arrow... oh my, he definitely fought him and won that spot. Or they can share it for now. But Arrow was so complex and real and raw. The amount of times I blushed because of him! Seriously, sometimes I wondered how Salem could stay standing when he talked to her like that. WOW.

Anyway, Arrow’s development throughout the story was beautiful. “Because I want”. When he said those words, I’m not lying when I say I started sobbing. Because he’s not the type of person to feel. To love. To want. But Salem brought that to his life and it just made my heart warm and happy.

I will definitely read this book again and again because I love it that much. If you’ve read this far and are still feeling “iffy” about reading it, please do. You won’t regret it. ♥️
