Why do we rewatch the 1995 and 2005 adaptations of Pride and Prejudice over and over again? Because it's a timeless story of love! So iconic are Austen's six novels that you can plop the characters and plot shapes in different times, countries, and planets, and you'll still feel the original at its core. This list is book adaptations (published fanfiction) of all six of Austen's novels. The character names don't have to match exactly, but we should know which book it's riffing off from.

Not me finding this list just now (because of the overview for voting)! How can I call myself an Austen fan if I haven't even seen, saved and started reading books from this list, haha? đ«Łđ€đ

hehe I love how many there are! I haven't read the majority of these yet
Me too! I've only read one so far but I'll definitely put a few others on my tbr. đ€

Elizabeth of East Hampton is my favorite of this list so far đ

Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James ?

so I really debated on whether to include books that are in the Austen world beyond the original plot lines, like Death Comes to Pemberly, Claudia Gray's Murder of Mr Wickham series, the Miseducation of Caroline Bingley, and so many other great ones, but I decided to keep this list specific to retellings of the original books. but, I could imagine a broader in the world of JA list and also a list of variations books in which authors change the direction of the original stories. my very favorite JA-inspired variation is Unequal Affections in which Lizzy says yes after the first Darcy proposal. there are just so many amazing works inspired by Ms Austen and I had to keep myself on task and focused here đ
