these horror books are safe for tenderhearted cat loversâ they either feature no cats to worry about, cats that remain safe throughout the entirety of the story, or cats who even though endangered (and possibly even hurt), are confirmed to survive and make it to the end of the book with at least one of their nine lives in tact! đ¸
this list is cat-specific! there is no guaranteed safety of any other animals in these books.

hey y'all! please take this comment as extra encouragement to let me know of horror books that fit this listâ those are the only ones i can read! as someone whose current favorite genre is horror, i can't tell you enough how much it means to me to know that any cats that might show up are safe!
as of 9/18/26, the only books in this list are ones i've personally read. if somehow i missed a mention of cat death and need to revise the list, please don't hesitate to tell me so i can correct it. if you have any questions about any specific books (i.e. if cats are endangered in them), i am also happy to elaborate if it helps vet that a book is safe for you.
