My degree is in American History, so the list is a bit tilted in that direction at the moment, reflecting my knowledge base. Having said that, I definitely want it to be as representative as possible of different periods and cultures as possible. If anyone has recommendations, pass them my way!
Might I recommend “The Short Chronicle: A Poor Clare’s Account of the Reformation of Geneva?” It was written by Jeanne de Jussie, a nun in the Poor Clares convent in Geneva, during the 1530s and follows the persecution of the order and their eventual flight to France to escape forced marriage and rape.
