i highly recommend adding ancillary justice! the protagonist is aroace & a lot of the characters are queer :) same w a memory called empire which has an iconic sapphic romance!

I actually had one or both of those on this list originally but was told that it takes place mostly on alien planets rather than spaceships. Is that accurate or do you think they fit the theme?
re: ancillary justice, i think it fits the theme bc being on space ships is integral to the plot (i mean the protagonist is basically a ship herself) & some of it definitely takes place on ships, although most of the series is planetside
