Let's discuss! What have you read? What's on your TBR? What is new to you? Any big surprises? What is missing that you expected?

For me: What have you read? None! What's on your TBR? John of John, Things we never say, May we feed the king What is new to you? There's a few I've never heard of - The renovation, all the dogs, helen of nowhere, the palm house Any big surprises? It's impossible to predict the booker! What is missing that you expected? I was hoping to see Beginning Middle End by Valeria Luiselli
So far only âMay We Feed the Kingâ and âThe End of Everythingâ are on my TBR. Though I did put another Marlon James book on my TBR. Honestly, I have such a love-hate relationship with the Booker. Reads that Iâve pulled from its winners and shortlist have been some of my all-time favorites, but I often comb through years of this prize wanting more diversity in topics. What the Booker does best is highlighting incredible writing. I think I personally crave more action in plots and thatâs where I feel some dissonance.

I thought last year's list was great so my faith in the booker has been somewhat renewed. I'm hoping this is a good collection too
What have you read? John of John and Things We Never Say - both excellent
On my TBR: black bag, the end of everything, the renovation
New to me: most of these are new to me, but the thing with the booker long list is they get advanced copies so I think some haven't been released anyways
Surprises: hmmm. Don't know if surprised is the word but we have some past noms and winners here.
What is Missing: I agree it's hard to predict the booker! I thought that maybe Transcription by Ben Lehrer would be on here.

Oh yeah i was expecting to see transcription too
Literally as I was reading it I kept thinking "this is weird and cerebral, wonder if it'll make the Booker long list"
thank you for posting this!
