i first tried to read this series 15 years ago, but a year ago i finally finished book 2, cried like a baby, and said "i'm gonna do it." now i'm halfway through the series, and i can say that was one of the best decisions i've ever made.

the malazan books are amazing, and by far the best fantasy series i've ever read. they singlehandedly got me back in the habit of reading every day. so i just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the last year, during which i've been reading really avidly, and the malazan series has been a constant throughline in that journey. i owe these books so much! thanks, steve!
