March Readalong Information

Hey everybody! I'm so glad to see there was so much interest in doing a poetry readalong. I figured it would be best to make an information post first, then tomorrow I will make a post for voting on a collection (I thought it'd be a bit too messy to combine everything into one post).

I've never done a readalong before, but I have looked at how other quests have done their unofficial readalongs so I think I've concocted a decent game plan. I will outline the details below and y'all can feel free to comment what you think and I can make any alterations as needed.

Time: 1 March -- 14 March (2026); my rationale for squeezing it into two weeks is because that is a common library hold length and I want as many people to be able to participate as possible!

Set-up: Once we've selected a book, I will make a schedule of which poems to be read each day and post it in the quest forum (or perhaps comment it under this post?). Since poetry collections are structured differently than other books, I think it would make the most sense for me to make a book forum post each day (one for each poem) where everyone can discuss. I'd be happy to come up with some guiding discussion questions if people would find that beneficial.

Title selection: I'm putting together a short list of titles that have sparse forums, varying themes, and varying "difficulty" levels so that people will hopefully feel they have a good selection to choose from. I'm also trying to ensure the options I choose are available at most big libraries, as a lot of the ones in the quest aren't. Keep in mind, the only libraries I have access to are US-based (if you are outside of the US and have any info to add about what's available at your library, please comment). I will create a voting post tomorrow or the day after (depending on engagement levels with this post) outlining each title and everyone can upvote their choice in the comments.
