I can't get behind this romance as actually romantic so far tbh. They barely know each other and already Theo's dropping... significant amounts of money on this guy. Five grand in a "grant" to Dylan's family's struggling business, to be paid off with the "favour" of being his controversial fake boyfriend – and he didn't even give Dylan all the relevant details, like the fact that he wasn't on the guest list for the event. However much that suit cost (and the shoes. and the belt. and the shirt and tie.) (fancy rich people suits do not come cheap, especially tailor-made ones.) Like... it's too much, and on top of it all Theo is happily bending the truth left and right to smooth things over, telling Dylan's aunt half-truths about "convincing his family's charitable foundation" so Dylan can't easily back out, playing the subtly shady 5d politeness chess with his own aunt in front of other relatives so she's trapped by the rules of propriety into letting him and Dylan stay to crash the wedding even though – again – they were not on the guest list. And when Dylan (understandably!) is confused and uncomfortable and maybe even a little bit angry when he finds out how much he's being kept in the dark, when he's feeling like maybe he's kind of being used here, Theo just smooths it all out by grinning charmingly and saying he won't let his family give Dylan a hard time (as if he really has that sort of control over them?) (as if that's even close to the top of the list of issues here?)

I dunno. I dunno! It's giving manipulation. I know it's a fluffy YA romance and a "rich prettyboy falls for hardworking but ultimately pretty poor average dude" cinderella kind of deal but... Maybe I'm just too old for it, because if a guy pulled even half of this with me when I barely knew him I'd run for the hills.
